While fancy and expensive kitchen gadgets are absolutely not necessary for home cooking, some tools can potentially make cooking at home much easier. Some products may even be worth the splurge, especially if they prove to be high quality, long lasting, and makes homecooking more effortless.

I have compiled a list of my favourite kitchen products you can purchase from Amazon. These are products I use regularly and found to be useful. They have all been in my kitchen for at least several months and many of them have stood the test of time. I cook majority of our meals at home and there are 2 adults and 3 children in my family. • Sturdy pot lid stand: This holds up any pot lids I have tested, including my super heavy enamelled cast iron pot lid. I also use it to hold cooking utensils like spatula or chopsticks.
  • Clip on pot strainer: Strain your pasta, noodles, or vegetables with ease! I have also used this to strain out the oil from ground beef or dump out the liquids after boiling potatoes. This clips onto pots of different sizes easily.
  • Cast iron skillet: My most trusted and frequently used cooking pan. Mine works like a non-stick pan and it is really not that much effort to maintain one. The Lodge website even says you can use a little bit of soap to clean the pan! I have the 12″ pan but you can go bigger or smaller depending on your needs!
  • Metal spatula for cast iron skillets: If you decide to get a cast iron skiller (hooray!), get one of these metal spatulas to make cooking easier. I use mine for almost everything. The very thin blade makes it easy to get under the food for flipping.
  • Food thermometer: Safe food handling is no joke! Cook your meat to the safe temperature and say good-bye to overcooked meat.
  • Oven / BBQ probe thermometer: Check on the temperature of your food in real time so that you don’t overcook your meat.
  • Meat chopper: Even if you don’t eat meat, this is a helpful tool. I use it to break up tomatoes for sauces and soups. I also like using it to crumble up tofu.
  • Frother & Drink mixer: I use this to mix up my protein shake because lumps are not fun.
  • Mini waffle maker: Food tastes better when it looks cute. Mini waffles also make amazing breakfast sandwiches. Don’t knock it until you try it.
  • Vegetable chopper: This speeds up dicing SO much. This is a must for making salad or soup. I love having uniformed shaped diced vegetables in my chili.
  • Ninja Foodi Air Fryer: This cuts down cooking time so much compared to the oven. I love making roasted vegetables and tofu in this thing. You can also use the air fryer for frozen packaged foods like chicken fingers and fries. The grill function also comes with a food thermometer. Say good-bye to overcooked meat!
  • Kitchen Scale: Food scales are not just for macro counting. I use my kitchen scale all the time when I am baking and cooking, too. You can convert volume measurements (e.g., teaspoons, tablespoons, and cups) to weight measurements (e.g., grams or ounces) to make it easier to follow recipes. How else do you measure 2 tablespoons of butter when the butter is a solid mass?
